Sending messages to friends and lovers to let them know they are in your thoughts anytime of the year is a great idea. I like the idea of enabling that with a bit of creative uniqueness.
Taking the hearts created from waste threads I have created one of the kind cards that you can send (with a little help).
I will pick a card, hand write your personalized message in the card, place it in an envelope and address it with your friend’s address and your return address. Sealing it with glue and adding a stamp; away it will go in the mail.
Cost per card $9 Canadian for cards being mailed to Canadian addresses; or $10 USD for cards being mailed to US addresses.
The email needs to include:
Your return address
The address or addresses you wish to send cards to
The message you wish included.
I will get back in touch with you re payment.
When you are a tile maker who in a time of Covid moves to where you have no access to a kiln you find yourself making art in different ways or at least Kirsten does.
As the tile maker and sometime decorator (when she is able to travel) of Pipkin Pottery and Tileworks, Kirsten found herself at a point of no kiln access with her move back home to Nova Scotia and with access to a large number of waste threads as a by product of her day job.
Reflecting a desire to tie together both her environmental leanings and her heartfelt desire for more connection she came up with Threaded Hearts to express that need to move ahead in beauty and love.
The hanging hearts seem to have also struck a cord with others as the desire for them for use as gifts, Christmas ornaments or window hung string suncatchers reflects.
They are carefully packed and mailed, internationally and nationally by letter mail from Kirsten’s home in Nova Scotia, Canada inside a handmade card. As it is a small production and only offered when she knows she has them on hand if you are interested in placing an order, please
